"THE SAME TO YOU SIR....AND MANY OF 'EM"

Between the years 1812 and 1820 there were eight consecutive white Christmas's, and the period in general had particularly cold and snowy winters. A young child growing up at such a time might come to associate Christmas with snow, one such child was a little boy called Charles Dickens, who helped with his stories to embed the idea of the white Christmas into our imaginations.*
I want a pair of the ladies strap on snow shoes, what a great idea, and they'd help to keep your shoes dryer too. I suppose before moulded rubber wellies, these were perfect for this kind of weather. The backgrounds of these images are very entertaining as well, there a gentleman doing a gambole in the wind and a struggling carriage, though I feel sorry for the poor horse (below).
